Narration
جَاءَ أَعْرَابِيٌّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَقَالَ: عَلِّمْنِي كَلاماً أَقُولُهُ: قَالَ: قُلْ:

A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah and said, ‘Teach me words to say.’ He replied:

Remembrance of Allah
لاَ إِلَهَ إِلاَّ اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لاَ شَرِيكَ لَهُ، اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ كَبِيراً، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ كَثِيراً، سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ العَالَمِينَ، لاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَكِيمِ
Personal supplication
Narration
قَالَ: فَهَؤُلاَءِ لِرَبِّي، فَمَا لِي؟ قَالَ: ((قُلْ:

The man then said, ‘These are for my Lord, but what is for me?’ He replied:

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي، وَارْحَمْنِي، وَاهْدِنِي، وَارْزُقْنِي
Transliteration
Remembrance of Allah

Lā ilāha illā llāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lahu, allāhu akbaru ka-bi-yran, wa-l-ḥamdu li-llāhi ka-thīran, subḥāna llāhi rabbi l-ʿālamīna, lā ḥawla walā quwwata illā bi-llāhi l-ʿazīzi l-ḥakīm

Personal supplication
The man then said, ‘These are for my Lord, but what is for me?’ He replied:

Allāhumma ighfir lī, wa irḥamnī, wa ihdinī, wa irzuqnī

Translation
Remembrance of Allah

There is no deity worthy of worship except Allah alone, without partner. Allah is the Greatest—supremely great. Abundant praise belongs to Allah. Glory be to Allah, Lord of the worlds. There is no power and no strength except through Allah, the Almighty, the All-Wise.

Personal supplication
The man then said, ‘These are for my Lord, but what is for me?’ He replied:

O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me.
